S teve Conine is an American technology entrepreneur who co-founded the online home goods retail giant, Wayfair. An engineer by training, he and his longtime friend and business partner, Niraj Shah, have launched several companies together. Their most significant venture began in 2002 when they founded CSN Stores, an e-commerce company that operated a collection of over 200 disparate niche websites selling specific items like barstools, birdhouses, and grandfather clocks.
In 2011, they made the pivotal decision to consolidate all of their niche websites into a single, cohesive brand: Wayfair. This move, combined with a focus on technology, logistics, and a massive product selection, allowed the company to grow into one of the largest online-only retailers of furniture and home goods in the world. As co-chairman, Conine has been a key leader in building the company's complex supply chain and technological infrastructure. Wayfair's successful IPO in 2014 and its subsequent growth have made both founders billionaires.
