A ndrei Kozitsyn is a Russian industrialist known as the "Copper King" of the Urals. He is the former CEO and a major shareholder of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC), one of Russia's largest producers of copper, zinc, coal, and precious metals. He started his career as a mechanic at one of the plants that would later form the core of his empire.
During the 1990s, Kozitsyn, along with his partner Iskander Makhmudov, consolidated control over numerous mining and metallurgical enterprises in the Sverdlovsk region. They built UMMC into a massive, vertically integrated holding company, controlling the entire production chain from mining raw ore to producing refined metals. Kozitsyn ran the company as its general director for nearly two decades, overseeing its growth and modernization. He is also a noted philanthropist in his home region, particularly known for his support of the Russian Orthodox Church and the creation of military museums. He has been sanctioned by the EU and other countries.
