A nnette Lerner is an American heiress who, along with her children, inherited a vast real estate and banking fortune from her late husband, Ted Lerner. Ted Lerner started his career in the 1950s by borrowing money to found Lerner Enterprises, which he built into one of the largest private real estate development companies in the Washington, D.C. area. He developed a huge portfolio of office buildings, apartment complexes, and shopping malls.
In addition to their real estate empire, the Lerner family is the principal owner of the Washington Nationals, a Major League Baseball team that they purchased in 2006. The team went on to win the World Series in 2019, a crowning achievement for the family. Following Ted Lerner's death in 2023, Annette and her children inherited the family's assets. Her son, Mark Lerner, now serves as the managing principal owner of the baseball team, while other family members are involved in running the real estate business.
