B arry Lam is a Taiwanese billionaire and the founder and chairman of Quanta Computer, one of the world's largest manufacturers of notebook computers. He is a pivotal figure in the global electronics supply chain, whose company produces laptops and other devices for many of the world's top brands, including Apple, HP, and Dell. Born in Shanghai, Lam grew up in Hong Kong before moving to Taiwan for his university education.
He founded Quanta in 1988, foreseeing the massive growth potential of the personal computer market.
