B ernard Saul II is an American real estate and banking magnate based in the Washington, D.C. area. He is the chairman and CEO of B.F. Saul Company, a diversified real estate and banking enterprise that has been in his family for generations. The company's roots trace back to his grandfather, who founded the B.F. Saul mortgage and real estate company in 1892.
Bernard Saul II inherited the business and vastly expanded it. The company's real estate arm develops and manages a large portfolio of commercial properties, including office buildings, shopping centers, and hotels. He also founded Chevy Chase Bank, which he grew into the largest local bank in the D.C. region before selling it to Capital One for over $4 billion in 2009. He remains the head of the family's real estate empire and also controls Saul Centers, a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT).
