C onni Jonsson is a prominent Swedish financier and the founder of EQT, one of Europe's largest and most successful private equity and alternative investment firms. He began his career at Investor AB, the powerful investment vehicle of Sweden's Wallenberg family. In 1994, with backing from Investor AB, he founded EQT, introducing a new model for private equity in the Nordics.

Under Jonsson's leadership as CEO and later as chairman, EQT grew from a regional player into a global powerhouse. The firm's unique approach involves leveraging a vast network of industrial advisors to help develop and grow its portfolio companies, a departure from the purely financial engineering focus of many of its peers. EQT has a diversified portfolio spanning private equity, infrastructure, and real estate, and it held a highly successful initial public offering in 2019. Jonsson remains the firm's largest individual shareholder and a guiding force in European finance.
