D avid Steward is a self-made American billionaire and the founder and chairman of World Wide Technology (WWT), one of the largest African-American-owned businesses in the United States. He grew up in the segregated South and, after a career in sales at various companies, he founded WWT in 1990 with a small team and limited funding. The company started as a reseller of IT hardware.
Steward built WWT from a small product reseller into a massive and highly respected technology solutions provider. The company now offers a wide range of services, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, and supply chain solutions, to a blue-chip client list of major corporations and government agencies. As the majority owner of the privately held, multi-billion dollar company, Steward is one of the wealthiest African-Americans in the country. He is also a devout Christian and has written a book about his faith-based approach to business.
