E . Joe Shoen is an American billionaire and the chairman and president of AMERCO, the parent company of the iconic do-it-yourself moving company, U-Haul. He is the son of U-Haul's founders, Leonard "L.S." Shoen and Anna Mary Carty Shoen, who started the business in 1945. Joe's rise to the top of the family business was the result of a long, bitter, and highly public family feud.
