G erda Tschira is a German billionaire and the widow of Klaus Tschira, one of the five co-founders of the German software giant, SAP. Her late husband, along with four other former IBM engineers, founded SAP in 1972. They pioneered the development of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, which became the global standard for managing business operations for large corporations.
Upon her husband's death in 2015, Gerda and her two sons inherited his massive fortune, which consisted of his large founding stake in the highly successful software company. Her late husband was also a major philanthropist, having established the Klaus Tschira Foundation, one of Germany's largest private foundations, which supports projects in the natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science. The family continues this philanthropic legacy.
