H enry "Hal" N.R. Jackman is a prominent Canadian businessman and a former politician who served as the 25th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. His family is one of Canada's most established and wealthy dynasties, with deep roots in the country's insurance and financial industries. His father was the founder of the Empire Life Insurance Company.

Jackman inherited and vastly expanded the family's business interests, primarily through his role as the head of the family's holding company, E-L Financial Corporation.
