H arald Tschira is a German billionaire and the son of the late Klaus Tschira, one of the five co-founders of the German software giant, SAP. His late father, along with four other former IBM engineers, founded SAP in 1972. They pioneered the development of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, which became the global standard for managing business operations for large corporations.
Upon his father's death in 2015, Harald and his brother, Udo, inherited his massive fortune, which consisted of his large founding stake in the highly successful software company. His late husband was also a major philanthropist, having established the Klaus Tschira Foundation, one of Germany's largest private foundations, which supports projects in the natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science. Harald is now a key figure in the family's philanthropic foundation, continuing his father's legacy.
