S afra Catz is an Israeli-born American business executive who is the Chief Executive Officer of Oracle Corporation, one of the world's largest and most influential technology companies. She moved from Israel to the United States as a child. She earned a bachelor's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She began her career in finance, working as an investment banker at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where she rose to the rank of Senior Vice President.
Catz joined Oracle in 1999 and quickly became a key figure in the company's leadership, serving as a trusted lieutenant to founder and chairman Larry Ellison. She has held numerous high-level positions, including President and Chief Financial Officer, before being appointed co-CEO alongside Mark Hurd in 2014. Following Hurd's death in 2019, she became the sole CEO. Catz has been the driving force behind Oracle's aggressive acquisition strategy, overseeing more than 100 acquisitions, including the landmark takeovers of PeopleSoft and Sun Microsystems. She has played a pivotal role in transitioning Oracle's business toward cloud computing and is consistently ranked among the most powerful women in business.
