S usan Carol Holland is an Italian-British billionaire and the chairwoman of Amplifon S.p.A., the world's largest retailer of hearing aids. The company was founded in Milan in 1950 by her father, Algernon Charles Holland, a former British army officer who was part of the Allied forces that liberated Italy during World War II. After the war, he stayed in Italy and started the business to help people who had suffered hearing loss. He built Amplifon into a major national company.
