T imothy "Tim" Headington is a self-made American billionaire who has built a diverse and highly successful business empire spanning oil, real estate, and film production. The core of his fortune was made in the energy sector. He is the president and sole owner of Headington Oil, a Dallas-based exploration and production company. He achieved massive success through his early and lucrative investments in the development of the Bakken shale formation in North Dakota, one of the most significant U.S. oil discoveries in recent decades.

In addition to his highly profitable energy business, Headington is a major real estate developer in his hometown of Dallas, with a portfolio of luxury hotels and other properties.
