T odd Graves is a self-made American billionaire and the founder and CEO of the fast-food chain Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. The company has a famously simple and focused menu, offering only chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, and a signature dipping sauce. The idea for the restaurant was originally a college business plan for which Graves received a failing grade. Undeterred, he worked as a boilermaker in refineries and a commercial fisherman in Alaska to save up the money to start his own business.
In 1996, he opened the first Raising Cane's near the campus of Louisiana State University. The concept of doing "One Thing Well" resonated with customers, and the chain developed a cult-like following. Graves has since built the company into a massive and rapidly growing enterprise with nearly 700 restaurants across the United States and in the Middle East. The company remains privately held, with Graves as the majority owner and CEO, and its incredible success has made him a multi-billionaire.
