T omasz Biernacki is a famously reclusive and secretive Polish billionaire who is the founder and controlling shareholder of Dino Polska, one of Poland's largest and fastest-growing supermarket chains. He started his first business in the 1990s, a company that distributed food and other products. In 1999, he opened the first supermarket under the Dino brand in western Poland. He has since built the company into a massive retail powerhouse.
Dino Polska's strategy is to focus on opening mid-sized supermarkets in smaller towns and rural areas, a market that was often overlooked by larger, international hypermarket chains. The stores offer a mix of branded goods and a significant amount of fresh products, including meat from Dino's own meat processing plants. This model has been phenomenally successful, and the company has expanded at a tremendous pace across Poland. The company's highly successful IPO on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2017 made Biernacki, who has never been photographed by the media, one of the richest people in Poland.
