V ivek Ramaswamy is a self-made American billionaire who built his fortune as a biotechnology entrepreneur and has since become a prominent and controversial political figure. The son of Indian immigrants, he graduated from Harvard and Yale Law School and began his career as a biotech-focused hedge fund analyst. In 2014, he founded his own biotech company, Roivant Sciences. Roivant's innovative business model was to acquire promising but shelved or under-developed drug candidates from larger pharmaceutical companies and then create new subsidiaries to develop and commercialize them.
