W ang Yusuo is a self-made Chinese energy tycoon and the founder and chairman of the ENN Group, one of China's largest private energy companies. He founded the company in 1989 in Hebei province, initially as a taxi company and later as a distributor of natural gas. He was a pioneer in China's private natural gas industry, building the infrastructure to supply gas to cities at a time when the sector was dominated by state-owned giants. He has since built ENN into a massive, vertically integrated clean energy conglomerate.
Under his leadership, ENN has become a major player in natural gas distribution, with a network that serves millions of residential and industrial customers across China. The company has also invested heavily in other parts of the energy value chain, including LNG terminals, solar power, and energy storage. He is a prominent advocate for the transition to a low-carbon energy system in China. His wife, Zhao Baoju, is the co-founder and a major shareholder in the family's publicly traded flagship company, ENN Natural Gas.
