A ndrey Andreev, born Andrey Ogandzhantyants, is a Russian-born technology entrepreneur best known as the founder of the online dating empire that included Badoo, Bumble, and several other apps. He started his career in the internet space in the late 1990s, founding several successful web-based companies before focusing on the social discovery and dating market.
He launched Badoo in 2006, which grew to become one of the largest dating apps in the world, particularly popular in Europe and Latin America. His most famous venture was his partnership with Whitney Wolfe Herd to create Bumble, a female-centric dating app where women make the first move. Andreev's company provided the technical infrastructure and initial funding for Bumble, which became a massive success. In 2019, following controversy over a toxic work culture at his companies, Andreev sold his entire stake in the parent company, MagicLab (later renamed Bumble), to the private equity firm Blackstone, cashing out for a multi-billion dollar sum.
