A rturo "Arte" Moreno is an American businessman who made his fortune in the billboard advertising industry and is best known as the owner of the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). A Vietnam War veteran, Moreno began his career in advertising before joining a billboard company called Outdoor Systems. He and his business partner, William Levine, eventually took control of the company.
Through a series of aggressive acquisitions, they built Outdoor Systems into the largest billboard advertising company in the United States. In 1999, they sold the company to Infinity Broadcasting (now part of Viacom) for a staggering $8.7 billion. With his share of the proceeds, Moreno purchased the Anaheim Angels from The Walt Disney Company in 2003 for $184 million. He made history as the first Mexican-American to own a major professional sports team in the U.S. and has since overseen the team for two decades.
