C arl Ferdinand Oetker is an heir to the German family that controls Dr. Oetker, a diversified conglomerate with roots in the food industry. He is one of eight children of the third-generation leader, Rudolf-August Oetker. The company, famous for its baking powder and frozen pizzas, was founded by his great-grandfather August Oetker in 1891. The family expanded the business into a sprawling group with interests in food, beverages, shipping, and luxury hotels.

After years of internal family disputes over the group's direction, the Oetker empire was formally split in two in 2021. The family divided the conglomerate's assets to resolve the conflict.
