N aguib Sawiris is a flamboyant and outspoken Egyptian billionaire who built a massive fortune in the telecommunications industry. He is the eldest of three sons of the late Onsi Sawiris, the founder of the Orascom conglomerate, and a member of Egypt's wealthiest Coptic Christian family. Naguib took charge of the family's nascent railway and IT business and transformed it into Orascom Telecom Holding, building it into a massive international mobile network operator with a presence across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

His career-defining deal came in 2011 when he sold a majority of his telecom assets to the Russian telecom firm VimpelCom (now Veon) in a multi-billion dollar transaction.
