N assef Sawiris is an Egyptian billionaire investor and the scion of one of his country's wealthiest and most powerful families. He is the youngest of three sons of the late Onsi Sawiris, the founder of the Orascom conglomerate. Nassef took charge of the construction and fertilizer division of the family's business and built it into a global powerhouse. He is the chairman and CEO of OCI N.V., a leading global producer of nitrogen-based fertilizers and industrial chemicals, which is listed on the Euronext Amsterdam exchange.
Beyond his core industrial business, Sawiris is a highly active and astute global investor. His most valuable holding is a significant stake in the German sportswear giant, Adidas. He also holds a stake in the world's largest cement maker, Holcim. In 2020, he partnered with Wes Edens to acquire a majority stake in the English Premier League football club, Aston Villa. His investment firm, NNS Group, is based in Abu Dhabi and manages his vast and diversified portfolio of assets, making him the richest person in Egypt.
