R ichard LeFrak is an American real estate billionaire who is the chairman and CEO of the LeFrak Organization, one of the largest and most powerful family-owned real estate companies in the New York metropolitan area. He represents the third generation of his family's business, which was founded by his grandfather. His father, the legendary developer Samuel LeFrak, built the company into a massive powerhouse by developing huge, middle-class apartment complexes in the outer boroughs of New York City, most famously LeFrak City in Queens.

Richard joined the family business and took over its leadership from his father. He has continued to expand the family's vast real estate empire, most notably with the massive Newport development, a master-planned community on the waterfront in Jersey City, New Jersey, which includes office towers, residential buildings, and retail space. In addition to his core real estate business, he has diversified the family's interests into the energy and financial sectors. He was also a close friend and informal advisor to former President Donald Trump.
