S hashank Kumar is an Indian technology entrepreneur who co-founded Razorpay, one of India's leading and most valuable fintech companies. An alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, Kumar began his career working at Microsoft in the United States. While working there, he and his IIT classmate Harshil Mathur identified a major problem in the Indian market: the extreme difficulty for small businesses and startups to accept online payments.

Determined to solve this, the pair quit their jobs and moved back to India to start Razorpay in 2014. They built a developer-friendly payment gateway that could be easily integrated into websites and apps, simplifying the entire process of digital payment collection. As the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Kumar was the technical architect behind the company's robust and scalable platform. Razorpay quickly grew beyond just a payment gateway, expanding its product suite to include business banking services, payroll management, and lending, positioning itself as a comprehensive financial solutions platform for businesses. Its success has made it a poster child for India's booming fintech industry.
