S uh Kyung-bae is a South Korean business magnate and the chairman and CEO of Amorepacific Group, the country's largest and most successful cosmetics company. He represents the second generation of the family business, which was founded by his late father, Suh Sung-whan. His father was a pioneer, creating one of South Korea's first major cosmetics brands. After taking over the leadership of the company from his father in the 1990s, Suh Kyung-bae was the architect of its transformation into a global beauty powerhouse.
Under his leadership, Amorepacific became a leader in innovation, particularly with the development of the 'cushion' foundation compact, which became a global beauty trend. He was also the driving force behind the global spread of 'K-beauty', successfully exporting Amorepacific's popular brands, such as Sulwhasoo, Laneige, and Innisfree, to markets across Asia and into the United States. The company's massive success in China, in particular, fueled a period of explosive growth that made him one of the wealthiest people in South Korea. His daughter, Suh Min-jeong, has also joined the company.
