T ang Xiuguo is a Chinese industrialist and one of the co-founders of Sany Heavy Industry, one of the largest manufacturers of construction machinery in the world. In 1986, he, along with Liang Wengen and two other partners, quit their jobs at a state-owned enterprise and founded a small welding materials factory. They later pivoted into manufacturing heavy equipment, founding the Sany Group.
While Liang Wengen has served as the longtime chairman and public face of the company, Tang has been a key executive throughout its journey, serving as the president of Sany Group. He has been instrumental in the company's operational management and its growth into a global powerhouse, producing excavators, cranes, and concrete pumps that have been used to build much of modern China. The success of the publicly traded company has made the founding partners, including Tang, billionaires.
