T hierry Dassault is a French billionaire heir and investor, and a member of the powerful Dassault dynasty. He is one of the four children of the late Serge Dassault, the former head of the Dassault Group, and the grandson of the company's legendary founder, Marcel Dassault. The group is a massive industrial conglomerate with core holdings in aviation, software, and media.
The group's key assets include Dassault Aviation, the manufacturer of Rafale fighter jets and Falcon private jets; Dassault Systèmes, a world leader in 3D design software; and the influential French newspaper Le Figaro. Upon his father's death in 2018, control of the family's vast empire passed to Thierry and his three siblings. While his brother Olivier was a prominent politician before his death in a helicopter crash, and his other brother Laurent is more involved in the group's management, Thierry has focused on his own investment activities, particularly in emerging technologies and startups, while retaining his substantial inherited stake in the family's main holding company.
