T imur Turlov is a young, self-made billionaire and the founder and CEO of Freedom Holding Corp., a financial services company with a primary focus on Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Born in Moscow, he started his career in the finance industry at a young age. In 2008, at the age of 21, he founded his own investment company, Freedom Finance, as a small brokerage firm in Russia.

He later expanded his business into Kazakhstan, which has since become his main base of operations and the engine of his company's growth. Freedom Holding provides a wide range of financial services, including retail stockbroking, which gives clients in the region access to international stock markets, as well as investment banking and asset management. The company is listed on the Nasdaq in the United States. In 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Turlov, who had been sanctioned by Ukraine, renounced his Russian citizenship and became a citizen of Kazakhstan.
