B ob Muglia is a veteran technology executive who became a billionaire as the former CEO of the cloud data company, Snowflake. With a long and distinguished career in the software industry, Muglia is best known for his 23-year tenure at Microsoft, where he rose to become a senior executive leading major divisions, including the server and tools business, which was a multi-billion dollar enterprise.
After leaving Microsoft, he held executive roles at Juniper Networks before being appointed CEO of the then-startup Snowflake in 2014. Muglia was instrumental in taking Snowflake out of stealth mode and building it into a major force in the cloud data warehousing market. He led the company through its early, critical growth phase, securing major customers and funding. Although he was replaced as CEO by Frank Slootman in 2019, before the company's historic IPO, Muglia's leadership was foundational to its success, and his stake in the company made him a billionaire.
