In 2006, he founded Pegaso Online University (Università Telematica Pegaso), which grew to become one of the largest and most successful online universities in Italy. He capitalized on the growing demand for flexible and accessible higher education, offering a wide range of degree programs to tens of thousands of students.

In 2021, Iervolino sold his majority stake in Pegaso's parent company to the private equity firm CVC Capital Partners in a deal that valued the enterprise at over €1 billion, cementing his billionaire status.
