S ri Prakash Lohia is an Indian-born Indonesian billionaire and the founder and chairman of Indorama Corporation, a global powerhouse in the petrochemical and textile industries. He and his father moved from India to Indonesia in the 1970s, where they founded Indorama as a small yarn spinning company. Under Lohia's leadership, the company has grown into a massive, multinational enterprise through a strategy of vertical integration and global acquisitions.
Lohia expanded the business from textiles upstream into the production of its raw materials, such as polyester and PET resin (used to make plastic bottles), and then even further upstream into the petrochemicals needed to produce those materials. Indorama has become one of the world's largest producers of PET resin and fertilizers. The company, which remains privately held by the Lohia family, has a vast global manufacturing footprint, with dozens of production sites across Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. He now resides in London, from where he oversees his global industrial empire.
